In May 1915, 6th Division, including 16th London (Westminster Rifles) of 18 Brigade, moved to the Ypres area of the Western Front where they stayed for the rest of the year. Between 16th and 18th November, 16th London were holding the front line at Wieltje before being relieved and moving back to Poperinghe. Rifleman Barrett was killed in action on 18th November, 1915, but as yet there is no information concerning his death.
